When You Educate a Man, You Educate An Individual, but when You Educate A Woman You Educate A Family…….A Generation

On one hand, I am overjoyed that today is international day of La Niña. But, on another I wonder why would we have to designate one day to celebrate “girls?” If we celebrated human life daily and respected each other; perhaps our world would be different.

I reflect, had I had a Mija I would have wanted her to…….
Live in a dress-up life and wear purple stripes and orange polka dots
A childhood filled with giggles and wonderment
Do somersaults wearing her petticoat
May you sing and dance without a care
Chase and collect butterflies tirelessly

Freedom to run and play among the beauty of nature
May you cuddle and sleep with your favorite stuffed animals
Ride a bicycle or pony fast, or ride both
Climb trees and play in dirt
Run free with your puppy, cat or goat
Jump in puddles and may you always feel safe, loved and protected.
I wish all of your childhood be surrounded with Julie Whitmore’s “buddies” and you develop relationships with them.
May your dreams be bold and come to fruition
I wish you power, strength and the ability to do whatever brings you joy, little one

She would be raised with confidence and self-esteem.
And how to balance it with humility.
I would teach her to love her body and mind
I would teach her she is more than a physical being
I would teach her to laugh loudly
I would teach her how to find peace within herself
Teach her right is right
But, above all else I would introduce Mija to Our Lord. And teach her to live a Godly life following HIm.

Abrazos y Besos

I am perpetually creative, and my eyes “feel” art everywhere. Who am I, I am an open book. I believe that sharing “from the heart” with one another is what connects us, heals us, and inspires us! My love for my Lord, family, friends, cooking, crafting, gardening/nature, vintage, sewing and different cultures; these passions and too many more to list, have moved my hand to paper, thus, Abrazos y Besos. In addition to a nudge by my baby sister, Dudies. My last name is Hug which means Abrazo in Spanish, hence the name of my blog: “Abrazos y Besos” translating to “Hugs & Kisses.” I will focus on our personal life journey with Mi Corazon (Augie Hug) sprinkled with love, spice and fun. Please tune in. Philippians 4:13 New King James Version (NKJV) 13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
